Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie – a maritime city to discover
Located to the north of the campground, the village of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is very popular with tourists looking for a lively family vacation. Between fishing harbour, marina, nautical activities, fine sandy beaches, you will be spoilt for choice. First sardine port of the region, discover the Atelier de la Sardine: museum, store and gallery space retracing the steps of the canning industry and its know-how.
Another flagship activity in Saint-Gilles is the velorail, which can be practiced with family or friends. In the middle of nature, go for a walk with several people to discover a rich flora, the old train station, or the viaduct “De la Vie”. A way to discover the area in a unique and original way.
In the heart of the Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie region, the small town of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is known for its salt marshes. From April to September, visit the farm where you can learn more about salt making and ancestral techniques. It is the occasion to bring back a small bag as a souvenir of your vacations in Vendée.
Saint-Jean-de-Monts – Spa of excellence
In the south of the Noirmoutier Island, visit Saint-Jean-de-Monts, the seaside resort with 2,300 hours of sunshine per year! Once there, you are free to enjoy the golf course, a canoe trip or simply a moment of relaxation at the thalassotherapy and its seawater pool heated to 32° or the underwater massage jets.
Le Puy du Fou – The best amusement park in the world
Just 1 hour by car from your campsite, explore a new universe mixing falconry or equestrian shows, stunts, gladiator fights in a heated arena! The Puy du Fou invites you for breathtaking shows.
Elected several times as the best park in the world, it is undoubtedly the attraction of Vendée not to be missed. The Ghost Birds’ Broom, the 18th Century Village, the Vikings or the Cinescénie, the biggest night show ever with more than 2500 actors on stage, will take you back in time and put stars in the eyes of the youngest and the oldest! We won’t tell you any more, the best is to come and live this incredible experience with your friends and family!
Noirmoutier – The Salt Capital
The Vendée is rich in exceptional tourist destinations. The island of Noirmoutier is one of them. You can reach it on foot, by bike or by car. Accessible from the mainland through the Passage du Gois (4.2 km long) only at low tide, you will discover a breathtaking panorama, unique landscapes and a typical local architecture with its white houses and their blue shutters.
Occupying more than a third of the island, stop by the salt marshes. There, we will explain you all the know-how of the profession of saunier. The salt marshes are open to visitors every summer. You will be able to taste the coarse salt or the flower of salt, speciality of Noirmoutier.
Another idea for family activities on the Island is the Sealand Aquarium. The underwater fauna and flora are waiting for you for a moment of discovery to share with your family. The aquarium houses 200 species of marine animals from the cold and tropical seas of the world. You will also be able to admire the sea lions’ games of skill with their balloons.
